Melbourne multi-instrumentalist James Wallace is Wintercoats creates a beautifully layered dream pop featuring piano, strings, percussion, and vocals. There are some really nice swell of orchestration on these songs. Thanks to Wintercoasts for the free download!
From their Last FM page “Shoe gaze/alternative music trio from Mobile, Al. Made up of members Ian Taylor 22, guitars, tracking and vocals, Sally Robertson 18, bass and vocals, Mathew Hendrich 19, on drums.
The interesting thing about this is they aim more for the indie rock side of shoe gaze as opposed to being fully blissed out washes of ambiance. This is definitely rooted in 90's guitar which is a great thing. The mix on the vocals is nice as well. Thanks to the band for the free download! They have a full length due this Dec. Keep an eye out for it.

This album is a pretty serious sounding affair, and a good one at that. The resigned mood on Fog At Midnight is apparent throughout. This isn't done in a sad or sappy way though. The strings are played almost as a cinematic device and deliver the intended tone in spades. Congrats to them on this release! Check their FB page to keep in the loop on the band's goings on. Bella Ruse features some jazz tinged sweet vocals. This is a really well made indie pop album. Great stuff.
I like the experimental parts of this when put against the singer songwriter part. Makes for an interesting mix. Very cool. Thanks to Whiteshaw for the download.
