Thanks to Godot for the free download on Jamendo!  This albums hangs out around the crossing point of post punk and 80's new wave with just enough modern touches included. Check this one out!

Learning Music Monthly - 1.1 Whales This November (learningmusicmonthly.com)

Leaning music Monthly -1.1 Whales This November is a monthly LP free release on Learning Music Monthly.com. This album has both some nice folk based songs and some interesting instrumental mixes with old vinyl drops as on "Learning Music Music Part 1". John Wood is the driver of this bus but there are countless other musicians who have contributed to this great free monthly series. I did an interview with John in Sept of 09' on the main blog.  The short of it is he gets all of his friends together to make this music in monthly installments. All albums are free. There is a big swing in sound, and you are bound to enjoy at least a few of these albums no matter what you listen to. Thanks to John and the musicians for the great idea and great music!

Wotienke- Acoustic Live (bandcamp Name your price $0 min.)

Wotienke is a female piano singer/songwriter from Amsterdam. She moved to the Czech Republic and met four Czech musicians with whom she started the band Wotienke.

Finger snap on 2 and 4...check. Upright bass slow groove....check. Softly breathed saxophone....check. Sultry female vocals with a jazz delivery...check. Banjo... ? At first listen the banjo stands out, but it really works on "This Year's Thought", the track opener.

"Skip The Present" has a waltz time and has jazz, folk and classical touches as well. The mixture of the two cultures of the band members really shines here. With all of this going on it's important to remember the heart-felt vocals. The live download is a name your price $0 minimum download on bandcamp. Thanks to the band for that! You can also purchase their debut album Mainland Sailors on the same page.
